Case study
2InvoiceSplit STS: invoice payment schedules, automatic or custom
New version of a Dolibarr module that splits invoice payments into instalments: generated automatically from patterns, or split by hand by date, percentage and amount.
- PHP
- Dolibarr
- SQL
The problem
Many invoices are not paid in one go: they are split into instalments at 30, 60 or 90 days, or into monthly payments. Without a tool for it, those instalments are worked out by hand and easily lose track, especially when direct debits have to be generated from them.
Starting point
2InvoiceSplit is a 2byte module that has been in production for years. My work was building its new version: redesigning how instalments are created and extending its features, while staying compatible with the way customers already used it.
What it does
- Automatic instalments from patterns: the module adds payment terms with patterns such as
SCH-30d-60d, and validating an invoice with one of them creates its instalments automatically. Custom patterns can be defined in days, months or years. - Editable templates: each pattern can set when the first payment falls, what percentage of the total it covers, and a fixed due day.
- Custom split from the invoice: in the instalments tab you choose the start date, number of instalments and frequency, then adjust each one by date, percentage and amount. The interface always shows the percentage and amount still left to allocate.
- Customers and suppliers: works on both sales and purchase invoices, with lists of upcoming due dates and of invoices still missing theirs.
- Direct debits: pending customer instalments can be selected to generate the direct debits to collect.
My role
I built the module’s new version, the one shown in the demo, on my own, starting from the existing module.
